This zig zag patterened carpet was so wonderful to make and it came together beautifully. We used the thickest New Zealand wool. The colors we had to choose from were gorgeous. "Banana Swirl" Shaped Rec Room Carpet, Barrington Hills, IL

Hello! This 21 foot carpet was made for the sunroom of one of these large manufacturer mansion homes in Barrington Hills, an elite Chicago suburb. My client had a semicircular dark gray and white leather sofa that needed to sit at one end of the room. What a wonderful project. It turned out beautifully. "Jumbalaya" Custom Carpet for Frank Lloyd Wrights Engineer's Home Chicago, IL

This was my own home when I lived in Chicago. it was designed by Mendel Glickman, the civil engineer who worked for Frank Lloyd Wright for 40 years! Making a custom carpet for myself I have to say, was one of the most difficult carpets I ever made. This was an unusual shaped space and the design had to be perfectly formulated to meet the simple, solid, elegant, earthy standard going on already. I hit it just right here but it wasn't easy! Designing a carpet for a room is like having to visually come up with a missing puzzle piece for the room, that will pull all the elements around the carpet together. It is like playing 3-dimensional chess at times. I love it though, especially when the visual treat of a space like this results.

"Blue Swirl " Custom Designed Rug, Germantown, Maryland

An engineer in Germantown Maryland, just last summer sent me a quote request with a drawing and dimensions, for his living room space. He told me he liked a particular swirl carpet I had on my site. It was perfect. I was able to send him, within 2 days, a colored rendering of a new swirl carpet for his space, incorporating the blue they had going on in the room, and using other shades that tied in the colors in woodwork etc. I had the carpet sample colors sent from the mill to his home. There were a couple color choices to me made. They reported back to me which colors worked best in the actual room. I made the 12.5' x8' carpet and shipped it to him. It was about 3,000.00.

Didn't this make the sweetest little custom carpet? it was only 450.00, and about 4'x6'. I can do that if the design is simple and we don't have to buy anything.

"Florida Stripe" Handdrawn Striped Family Room Custom Rug, Northbrook, IL

This is the first carpet I made for this suburban Chicago, Northbrook, couple. This was for a room in their home that had the colors of Florida in it. They wanted to use the art piece above the couch to inspire a carpet. Simply-made and simply-designed, I call these organic or hand drawn stripes. I draw the pattern for the stripe by hand and do not use a ruler to make them straight, although I can do that to. This 8' x 10' carpet, with it's simple design just cost about $1700.00.

This couple saw the big red swirl carpet I made for the living room of the Mondry's townhome in downtown Chicago. Many of my clients like the swirls I do and I have drawn swirls in every possible color combination and twirling into so many forms to lay into every home space imaginable!

Oh, polka dots in a custom carpet! I still haven't made enough polka dot rugs. I love dots. So much you can do with them. They can intersect too, for a third color. Look how the edge of this carpet is scalloped. The technique I use to make these carpets lends itself well to making shaped carpets. We bind them up by hand in the rug shop. This older Northbrook couple I had made another rug for earlier. This time they needed one for their living area. We used soft shades of mauves. Simple was the name of the game. "Geometric' Custom Living Room Carpet, Modern Geometric Design, Winnetka, IL

Bold color & bold shapes thrown into a field of carpet can make a pretty neat looking family room rug. This carpet was part of a series of rugs I made after 9-11. My business slowed down a lot. The orders I did get were conservative in design and color. Interesting how that hit the marketplace. In my free time then I produced a series of Japanese inspired carpets that were simple and serene. I have always admired modern Japanese design. It has to be my most favorite aesthetic of all time. Over the years I did sell each piece off. This particular design was inspired by Japanese paper lanterns. I can't say enough about the serene beauty I see in those objects.

"Stained Glass", Macomb, IL. Rug design inspired by colored glass windows.

This is a custom carpet I designed for a couple in Macomb. They had a few different themes going on in the space that they needed to bring together. There were a couple of stained glass windows that had to coincide with the carpet as well as kitchen ceramic tile above the countertops. That tile was primary in color: red, yellow and blue. We also had to incorporate an earth toned leather couch and chair. This was the traditional yet somewhat eclectic carpet design that provided the solution to all the elements we needed to bring together in the room. I ran into my client a few months back and she told me that carpet was one of the best investments she ever made. (It set them back about 3200.00). I love it when my clients are happy, or more than happy with their purchase and when it accomplished all they were looking to accomplish in the room.
