This large luxurious entry carpet was made for a home in Lincolshire, Illinois, outside of Chicago. I had the opportunity to use the finest nylon on the market, a material that cost more than most wools. These gorgeous browns, caramels and beige hues work very well with wood trim in homes. This is an example of how a modern rug does not have to be brash but can be subdued and enhanse the subtle beauty of the woods etc. This carpet can be made in any size. Seeing the contour of this hallway runner, can you imagine all of the unique possibilities you may have for yours, when you let me, Lisa Welch, carpet artist at the "Fruits Of Love" custom carpet shop, design your hall runner? I could take inspiration from the room off the hall, or the art piece at the end of it, or the draperies in the living room. This "Rose Runner" was originally inspired by a wonderful handpainted vase that my client had in her home. I made my downtown Chicago client a full size living room carpet of these roses which I still have to get a picture of! I loved the design so much that I made this piece for my own hallway when I lived in Chicago. Halls, hallway rugs and runners, wavy, spotted, striped, and bordered. I love doing hallways!

"Water Lilly" Oriental Floating Petal Design Custom Handmade Runner, Chicago, IL

This carpet was made for a client in Chicago who lived in a high rise. This couple had an oriental theme running throughout their condo and called on me to make a rug for a few different spots in their combination, living-dining room. When I arrived at their place, overlooking Lake Michigan and the Lincoln Park Zoo, I thought it best to make one pond shaped, long carpet and have it sit in the center of the space, pulling everything together. I then told them that my accessment was also that the color should be....."green". After they got over their initial shock and had a private session between themselves, they informed me to go ahead and do it. These are large white water lillies floating on a pond. The soft shape of the carpet, and the petals bouncing off the edge of the carpet, enhanses the wood floors and invites people into the space.

I often make soft curvy-shaped carpets to sit on open wood floors. Many clients want to put a rug on their floor but are afraid to cover the beauty of the wood. No worries. Your floor needs a carpet in the perfect proportion to the floor space. The shape of the carpet, if correct, will also enhanse your wood floor and provide soft cushioned comfort for your feet. I used misty mauves, this magenta, and purple for their coordinating dining room custom carpet. This petal shape allowed for the space to stay open but still adds a lot of color to the entry.

'Soft Stones' was made for a Lincoln Park, Chicago, IL townhome. Oh how fun it is to pull the entire room together by creating an entry rug that states, "I have arrived, let me relax." This custom entrance carpet was made with lushious thick pile material that matched the dining and living room rugs I had made for this couple already. We used material that was left over from their larger carpets to make this entrance rug, leaving a minimal labor charge for this piece. So realize that if you need a llving room or dining room carpet I can often design and make you a custom entry carpet to go with it for and extra 300 or 400.00.

If your home has all wooden floors and stairs, you may need a lot of rugs, everywhere. This carpet I made for the landing of a staircase. These earth tone colors blend well with the traditional style banister and woods that many of these newly built homes have today. I make small area rugs like this and adhere bonded rubber backs that add cushion for extended wear of the carpet. The rubber mesh backing also provides the necessary no-slide!
